Proceso: Editors

The Mexico City government [Government of the Federal District, GDF] headed by Miguel Ángel Mancera, accepted the recommendations of the Human Rights Commission of the Federal District (CDHDF) regarding abuses during the police operation last December 1 [day of Peña Nieto's inauguration as President].

The city government said in a statement that it has decided to accept in full the twenty-two points included in the recommendation regarding the violations of human rights, such as public safety, liberty and personal security in relation to due process, personal integrity and the right to protest and demonstrate. The document emphasizes the decision of the city government
"to implement a process of diagnosing police procedures with the goal of adapting them to the standards of human rights protection."
Similarly, the GDF will promote reparation to victims for the "exceptional events that occurred on December 1, 2012". It also ensures that officials implicated in abuses will be punished.
"Based on the evidence supporting the recommendation, the GDF, through its competent authorities, agrees to implement administrative and legal procedures that allow the facts to be effectively investigated and that the responsible public servants are punished according to the rules of due process."
The Commission's recommendation is being directed to the Secretariats of Government and Public Security [police], the Attorney General and the Superior Court of Justice of the Federal District (TSJDF). Spanish original
