Milenio: The governor of Guerrero, Angel Aguirre Rivero, announced "enough!" and that there would be complete enforcement of the law against the dissident teachers for acts of vandalism carried out today in Chilpancingo. He stated that "the path of dialogue has been exhausted" and he will immediately proceed to obtain and execute arrest warrants.
In an interview with Milenio Television, the state governor said the government's capacity was not exceeded in response to the riots, but they acted with "great caution" because they knew in advance that the teachers wanted
"to have deaths in front of the media, to have injured, that the state police would enter into a direct confrontation."Aguirre Rivero said that the full weight of the law will be applied against those involved in the acts of vandalism, after the state government has offered many examples of dialogue, openness, understanding,
"but they have taken a wrong, wrong path that places them outside the law."The governor of Guerrero accused the leaders of the State Coordinating Committee of Education Workers of Guerrero, Minervino Moran and Gonzalo Juarez, of being the intellectual authors of the violent protests, particularly against the headquarters of the political parties, and he reaffirmed that he will act "very quickly" to initiate preliminary investigations and execute arrest warrants that are to be obtained.
He said the state government mounted a [defensive] operation at the local Congress and the Government Palace, but the protesters took another path, that of going to the political party headquarters.
MV Note: The teachers broke into the Congress on April 18, the day it was scheduled to debate the education reform bill they had proposed. To avoid a repetition, the Congress moved to Acapulco yesterday to vote on the bill, which met none of their demands. He said that based on information from the Secretary General of Government, there was evidence that people who participated in the protests had Molotov cocktails, and also firearms, so he insisted that they were seeking martyrs, but "we will not give them that", so he said those who have some responsibility for the vandalism will be punished according to the law.
