Members of the community police of the Regional Coordinator of Community Authorities (CRAC) in Guerrero prevented teachers in three communities in the indigenous municipality of Tixtla from teaching classes and required them to join the protest against the education reform, according to the Secretary of Public Security of the municipality, Ruben Reyes Cepeda, as reported by Notimex [Mexican News Service].

The closure affects at least six schools in the town of Acatempa, according to Reyes Cepeda, who added that in the villages of El Troncón and Tecotzintla, in the center of the state, an undetermined number of schools are closed.

The coordinator of community police in the area, Pastor Coctecón Plateado, is asking parents to participate in the march on Thursday in Chilpancingo, according to Reyes Cepeda.

Teachers of the State Coordinating Committee of Education Workers of Guerrero (CETEG), which includes 30,000 of the 70,000 state teachers, called for a march on Thursday to demand that the state Congress approve its proposals to reform the State Education Law.

CRAC joined the teachers' movement earlier this month, after which it began to close schools in the state's central zone and in the Mountain region of Guerrero. According to the state Education Department, there are 328 schools closed in that area. ... Spanish original
