Milenio: Chilpancingo Guerrero - Followers of the People's Movement of Guerrero and the State Coordinating Committee of Education Workers of Guerrero destroyed the offices of the Citizens Movement, PAN, PRD and PRI in Chilpancingo, Guerrero, in response to the state Congress not passing into law their demands for education reform.
At the PAN headquarters, hooded assailants vandalized the premises, destroying doors and windows with sticks, stones and metal rods. Inside, they also made spray paintings against the party.
After passing through the PAN offices, those of the Citizens Movement and a citizens attention office of PRD senator, Sofío Ramírez, the CETEG teachers went to the PRI headquarters, similarly destroying the property. They also attacked the facilities of the PRD, where they found staff working.
At the PRI office, teachers entered the building and started throwing all sorts of objects from a window on the second floor. Falling chairs, books, electronics equipment, documents, among others, were seen falling from the window.
They also painted slogans on the walls of the property. At the main entrance of the building, there were accumulated all kind of objects thrown out by teachers into the forecourt of the PRI state headquarters. Finally, the protesters set fire to the facilities. They then left the area to go to the Guerrero Congress. Shortly after, it was reported that firefighters had extinguished the fire in the building.
... The mayor of Chilpancingo, Mario Moreno, acknowledged that his administration does not have the ability to control and deal with the demonstrations by members of the People's Movement who have performed acts of vandalism at several facilities.
"We don't have the ability to face a crowd of 4,000 people, I am not going to expose 400 or 500 agents that I have in my charge to generate a conflict. I have already requested federal support," he acknowledged.The official described the attitude of the protesters as intolerant and provocative, so they have requested support from the governor of Guerrero, Angel Aguirre, as well as federal authorities. ...
