#YoSoy132 march in Mexico City The CNN Spanish original includes a slide show of marches in many other Mexican cities |
CNN Mexico: Members of the student movement #YoSoy132 Sunday joined other civil organizations, some of them supporters of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to participate in what they called the Second Megamarch against the imposition of Enrique Peña Nieto as president of Mexico.
The march in Mexico City, which drew some 30,000 people according to city authorities, was another demonstration by #YoSoy132 to reject the outcome of presidential elections on July 1, after which Enrique Peña Nieto, candidate of the Institutional Revolutionay Party (PRI), was positioned as the virtual winner. Young people see that result as an "imposition" of Peña Nieto in office, so they are calling on election officials to invalidate the election.
This Sunday, they were joined by such organizations as the Peoples' Front in Defense of the Land (FPDT) of the town of San Salvador Atenco in Mexico State, the Mexican Electricians Union (SME) and the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), both supporters of López Obrador, the candidate of the leftist coalition Progressive Movement. ...
