Mexico-Ayotzinapa: Independent Experts Will Leave at End of April, "No Conditions" to Continue Investigation - Inter-American Commission

Aristegui Noticias: The Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (IGIE) of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) will not continue it investigation of the Ayotzinapa case in Mexico.

The president the IACHR, James Cavallaro, reported that "there aren't the conditions" such that the IGIE can remain in the country after it delivers its latest report on the missing normal school students on April 24.

Cavallaro lamented the position of the Mexican government for "wanting to end its collaboration" with the group of experts and not renew its mandate, although parents of the disappeared students have asked it to continue its work.

In a teleconference from Washington, he said that "time will tell" regarding the precedent being set by Mexico. He noted that "the Commission will continue in its role of monitoring." Spanish original
