Guerrero - Business people of Chilpancingo and Tixtla, Guerrero, confirmed their alliance with the Union of Organized Peoples of Guerrero [UPOEG] and unveiled the formation of the Citizen Council for Security, as a tool to recover the peace that has been lost for several years.
With the emergence of the CCS, the leadership of the Employers Confederation of the Mexican Republic joins with UPOEG, a relationship for which it was previously pressured by the legally established authorities.
"Today, June 21, 2013, civil society raises its voice in Chilpancingo, after lethargy rooted in fear and abandonment by the bad rulers has caused the breakdown of the social fabric, seriously damaging the economy and development of our town, to the degree that we got used to violence, crime and the death of our fellow citizens," employers in the city announced in a statement at a press conference. In the text they announced the formation of the CCS, a body which they say, is completely outside political party interests and that
"originates from the inability of the authorities of the three levels of government to give us the right to integrity and safety for our families and the general population."It declared:
"Therefore, today we start the project of peace and security with UPOEG to jointly coordinate the security strategy for our town."The decision was made in a collegial manner, based on the results confirmed in dialogues with the inhabitants of 42 municipalities in which the UPOEG is present, and already "has effectively regained peace and social stability".
The CCS asked the authorities of the three levels of government to immediately define a strategy for security and crime prevention for Chilpancingo. It also asked for the immediate establishment of an economic recovery plan for the capital of Guerrero and to later seek the formation of a council for development in the seven regions [of the state].
They also made a call
"on the organizations and citizens in general, whether they have been victims of crime or not, to join in this great struggle for peace and security, to restore the social fabric."They also invited the public to participate in a march for security, justice and development which is scheduled for a week from Monday, July 1.
The document is signed by the leaders of Coparmex-Chilpancingo, the Chilpancingo Medical Society and the College of Physicians of the Center, the Uniform Manufacturers Working Together for Guerrero, the Democratic Transportation Union, the Tixtla Medical Society, United Business People of Guerrero and the Values for Life Association. ...
