Violent Outbursts Should Be Punished to Prevent More Cases of Impunity - Mexico Human Rights Ombudsman

La Jornada: Leopoldo Ramos

Saltillo, Coahuila - The increase in cases of social unrest that result in outbreaks of violence, as have occurred in the rectory tower [administration building] at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) are of concern and should be punished to prevent their becoming yet another example of impunity, considered the president of National Commission of Human Rights [CNDH], Raúl Plascencia Villanueva.
"We are observing a complex situation in Guerrero, which has spread to other states, such as Michoacán. It is certainly worrying," he said in an interview.
On a visit to Saltillo, where he met with members of the Human Rights Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Plascencia Villanueva called on the authorities to address the social demands and prevent the demands from spilling over and becoming conflicts with doses of violence. Spanish original
