Chilpancingo, Guerrero • The State Coordinating Committee of Education Workers of Guerrero (CETEG) reopened for one day the schools closed since the teachers' strike that erupted on February 25. Teachers provided study guides to students and asked parents to support the movement.
Minervino Morán Hernández, CETEG spokesman, confirmed on Monday that teachers participating in the strike returned to their schools and reopened their classrooms. They held meetings with parents to explain the status of the movement. They also gave study guidelines to students with the intention that they can advance in their homework by using a bibliography while teachers maintain their movement against educational reform.
Morán Hernández indicated that they invited parents to join the teachers' struggle, which is expected to have an impact on the mega-march scheduled for Wednesday, April 10, in Mexico City.
Regarding the number of schools reopened, the leader said that they don't have an accurate figure, as some schools have closed their doors completely but others maintain a partial status.
He said that on Tuesday some teachers will begin to return to Chilpancingo [state capital] after returning to their schools to give advice and information. Others will remain [in their schools] until the day of mobilization [Wednesday]. By then, the leadership will have made an assessment as to the strength of the work stoppage movement. Spanish original
